Gdansk and Sopot attractions

Gdańsk is a thousand years old city with many tourist attractions. Museums, architecture landmarks and long sandy beaches are located troughout this important Polish city. This is where the Solidarity movement started and lead to change of Polish history.

Together with nearby Gdynia and Sopot, Gdańsk forms a large metropolitan area called Trójmiasto (Tricity). This is a place is rich in cultural, architectural and tourist treasures.

One of them is The National Museum where you can see a collection of crafts and paintings, among them the famous Last Judgment by Hans Memling. The history of Gdańsk's citizens can be viewed in Gdańsk History Museum, the Artus Court and the Uphagen House. If you like the maritime culture, visit the Central Maritime Museum with its stunning exhibitions. Gdansk's Wrzeszcz District offers a walk with the splendour of historic area among old houses and villas, as well as a 19th century brewery. Nobel laureate Günter Grass, was born and lived in Gdansk. The nearby area of Oliwa in Gdansk is the site of the International Organ Festival and it is famous for its monumental cathedral with live organ concerts and tours. If you like old monumental structures don't miss St. Mary's Church in Gdansk which is one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Poland.  In the center of old city there is Long Market, with many good shops and popular restaurants. Located in the center is Neptune Fountain, a 17th century symbol of the sea god.

Sopot is the centre of nightlife.
